The derme’llage Skin Care Regimen Began in 1999 With The Creation of Dr. Robert D. Bibb’s One-of-a-Kind Raspberry Rejuvenation Crème

In 1997, Robert D. Bibb, M.D. began expanding on the internationally acclaimed chemoprevention (cancer prevention) research of Dr. Daniel W. Nixon, whose revolutionary research, conducted at the Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina, involved the consumption of whole red raspberry extracts as a cancer prevention strategy.

Dr. Bibb’s work focused on the extraction of the active ingredients contained in the powerful raspberry seeds. Dr. Bibb and his team at Clemson University discovered that the active ingredients in raspberry seeds blocked the enzymes used by certain cancers to spread throughout the body (See CancerLetters, 2004 Aug. 30:212(2):153-8). These same enzymes are activated in the skin by outside influences such as ultraviolet light and pollution, which in turn cause collagen breakdown, wrinkling and premature aging.

From this research Dr. Bibb and his team developed a powerful raspberry seed nutraceutical tablet to take advantage of the positive benefits of the oral consumption of raspberries without the inherent availability problems and high costs associated with consuming fresh raspberries. Dr. Bibb called his tablets Razz-Tabs, and four (4) of his Razz-Tabs equals one cup of fresh raspberries at one-sixth of the cost. Note: Dr. Daniel W. Shortly thereafter Dr. Bibb began studying the ellagic acid levels found in the bloodstream of volunteers consuming Razz-tabs, and noted that his patients consuming the tablets noticed an amazing side effect - the disappearance of precancerous lesions of the of the skin. Knowing that it would be difficult, and extremely costly, for him to get FDA approval for a product that took advantage this phenomenon, Dr. Bibb and his team instead developed a raspberry seed extract crème in the hope that the topical application of this crème would eliminate the precancerous lesions as well. While the crème failed to have the desired effect on the precancers, Dr. Bibb’s patients using the raspberry crème began reporting dramatic improvement in their fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots and their skin’s overall appearance.

Louis Pasteur said that, “Luck favors the prepared mind,” and Dr. Bibb and his team were certainly prepared to aggressively pursue these fascinating findings. They immediately initiated an aggressive research initiative at Clemson University, and soon found out that their raspberry crème blocked the enzymes that cause collagen breakdown wrinkling and premature aging. They also discovered that their remarkable crème also stimulated the skin to rapidly repair the damage caused by the ravages of sunlight and environmental pollution. In 1999, their phenomenal discovery resulted in their rich raspberry crème being branded derme’llage Raspberry Rejuvenation Crème, and with that it became the flagship of the derme’llage Skin Care Regimen.

Shortly thereafter, Dr. Bibb and his team developed a specially formulated raspberry seed oil that proved to contain powerful anti-inflammatory properties, and that tightened “leaky” blood vessel walls in the skin. These unique properties made their oil an ideal candidate to counteract the blood vessel “leakiness” around the eyes, that are believed to cause puffiness and dark circles. A subsequent breakthrough discovery allowed the team to develop an intensive eye serum containing extremely high levels of raspberry seed oil, which, unlike other oil-based products, is absorbed quickly into the skin without leaving any greasy residue. Further clinical trials showed dramatic improvement to the puffiness and darkness around the eyes in as little as two weeks.
